14/01/2025

Challenge: Coordination and supervision of the company carrying out the field work, performing 55 boreholes and taking 170 soil samples and waste characterisations, taking into account the urbanisation project and the differences in elevation in the whole area. In addition, coordination between all the parties involved, such as the UTE, the Consortium, landowners, including L'Hospitalet de Llobregat town council and other landowners with precarious activities.

MediTerra 's solution: Based on the analytical results of the soil samples, MediTerra  prepares a quantitative risk analysis and excavation plan for each sub-site in accordance with current regulations and the technical circulars published by the Catalan Waste Agency. The excavation plans for the different areas of action are drawn up in coordination with the UTE PDU BIOPOL in order to serve as a guide for the correct execution of the work from an environmental point of view and to calculate the costs associated with excavation and remediation (if necessary) to be passed on to the different future urban developers in the area.

Benefits to the client: MediTerra  conducted a preliminary investigation in 2018 and also prepared the technical specification for the 2025 soil survey tender. Therefore, it has a solid knowledge of the project enabling the correct coordination of the project. Subsequently, as an accredited entity, MediTerra  draws up the quantitative risk analyses and excavation plans taking into account the development project.

About the client: MediTerra  has been contracted by the UTE PDU BIOPOL, which is the company awarded the project for the urbanisation of the BIOPOL-Granvia area tendered by the ‘Consorci per a la reforma de la Gran Vía a l'Hospitalet’ (Consorci).
